Adult Basic Education (GED)  Located at Columbus Technical College
Monday through Thursday from 8:00 until 1:00

We offer instruction to assist adults, individuals 18 and older, in obtaining a GED.  We also help refresh skills required to pass the compass exam. Our classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm.  Registration takes place daily and is completed over a 2 day period.

Registration takes about 4.5 hours.
Fill out paperwork: about 30-40 minutes.
Locator evaluation:  about 50 minutes.
TABE: about 3 hours.

In order to enroll, students that are 18 or 19 years of age must bring a withdrawal form from the last school attended. If you do not have this you can go to the Columbus Roberts Center and get a letter. (Please see link at bottom of the page)  New students are given a TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education).  The TABE is an assessment tool used to develop individual study plans.

Question:  How long will it take for me to get a GED?
It depends on your education level.  Some people find that classes are not necessary. Others need years to study.

We offer individual and small group instruction.  When a student's assessment scores show that he is ready for the GED exam, he is given a practice GED.  Scores from the practice exams are very good indicators of how well one will perform on the actual GED.
